Abstract
Environmental sustainability is no longer optional in today’s world of growing environmental and climate change concerns. Although environmental sustainability has been extensively discussed, little is known about how personal values impact environmental sustainability in the context of business events. Evidence shows that personal values influence pro-environmental behaviour. Event organisers who prioritise environmental sustainability are likely to implement environmental sustainability practices in their events. However, in the business events sector in Asia, there is a low awareness of environmental sustainability, which is closely linked to personal values. This chapter aims to emphasise the role of personal values in promoting environmental sustainability engagement in business events in Asia. Since environmental sustainability requires a collective effort, a variety of stakeholders, including organisations, academia, industry and government, are examined to understand how personal values can promote environmental sustainability engagement and address the issue of low awareness of environmental sustainability.
