Abstract
Under the JOY project, an innovative design on public seating and planters are developed. People can experience the environment through the five senses: we can “see” colourful plants, “feel” the texture of the plants, “smell” the flowers and grass, “taste” the fresh herbs and even “hear” the leaves dancing and birds singing, bringing multi-sensory experience. JOY allows communities to create their own unique greenery in where they live. Everyone in the community is responsible for the management of JOY, including plant watering and fertilising, decorating modules with patterns and colours that represent their communities or even sharing the design online. Eventually, JOY aims to re-establish the links between humans and the greenery, as well as in fostering social bonding among people.
