Abstract

A hydrodynamic model has been established to simulate three-dimentional tidal flow in Rambler Channel. The model consists of a coarse grid domain and a fine grid domain. The computations in both domains run in parallel. The model has successfully reproduced the tide levels recorded at two tide gauges during both the dry and wet seasons. Pollutant dispersion characteristics in relation to the uniqueness of the channel configuration are investigated at spring and neap tides. Drogue tracking is used to simulate the dispersion pathways of pollutants discharged from two major stormwater box culverts in the channel. Flushing time in the typhoon shelter is also investigated by inert tracer simulations.
