Description
The educational and occupational opportunities afforded females and males in Hong Kong have generally not been the same. This disparity is built on history and tradition, an occurrence that exists in many other countries. Given the impact technology has on the lives of all individuals, it is imperative opportunities are provided to increase technology literacy, skills and attitudes of each and every one. This paper describes the past and current situation relating to technology education in Hong Kong. Descriptions of the steps being taken to increase female participation in the school subject, as well as initial results of such efforts are provided.
